The Gaillac Appellation Area

Three terroirs for a unique Appellation.

Here, following the River Tarn to Gaillac, then to Lisle-sur-Tarn, or wandering through the hills, you will find yourself at the heart of one of the oldest french vineyards. On the right bank of the Tarn, from the first slopes to the granitic and calcareous soils of Plateau Cordais, the well orientated soils nourrish fruity whites and subtle reds. On the left bank, the soils are gravelly have always been ideal for the making of dense and deep red wines.

As for the climate, the Gaillac vineyard benefits from two types of influence :
  • the oceanic warmth which reduces the risks of frost and brings the vine good water supply
  • the mediterranean heat, in summer and autumn, amplified by the Autan wind, ensure the good ripening of the grapes. Harvesting thus usually takes place in pleasant climatic conditions.
